SILVER FOR MSB MEN

At the National Indoor Relay championships in Nenagh January 10th, the Metro St Brigids quartet of Joe Barry, Dave Lorrigan, Alan Gray and Michael O’Sullivan took silver medals behind a very strong Menapians quartet in the 4 x 400m.   

 Joe ‘s very competitive lead-off run left the team in good shape for silver medals and this position was consolidated by equally good performances by Dave, Alan and anchor man, Michael who showed signs of an impressive return to form with a scorching last lap.  The performance is rendered more meritorious by the fact that, apart from Michael, the remaining members of the team were making their senior relay debut for the club.  Unfortunately, due to the closeness to the start of the season, exam pressures etc. the club was not able to field other teams on the day.   However, there is now a wealth of strong young talent coming through, particularly in the men’s section of  the club, which is  looking forward to the coming season with optimism.
