COGHLAN WINS JUNIOR TITLE

Metro St. Brigids’ John Coghlan added to his fast growing reputation and list of titles when winning the National Junior 1500m title in Tullamore last Sunday. In a tactical race John held his effort until the finishing straight where he out-kicked Brian Markham of Ennis and Sam Kelly of Fingallians to win a tight race in 3:59.88.

Michael O’Sullivan also participated at this event but had a rare off-day and failed to make the podium.

In the Dublin Graded League in Santry on Wednesday night last the 100m B race was won by Joe Barry in a new PB of 12.02. Joe, who only commenced training in February, has now run a PB in each race he has run this season and he will be hoping to continue this improvement during next season.

In the men’s mile Niall Sherlock finished third in the A race with one of the club’s brightest up and coming stars, Liam Tremble finishing 5th . In the B race another of our up and coming stars, Philip Hilliard, finished 6th with his uncle, Mel Hilliard, finishing 11th in the same race. Both Liam and Philip were making their debuts in the mile event.
