DUBLIN SENIOR/MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Dublin Senior and Masters championships took place on Saturday night in Morton stadium and brought its fair share of success to athletes from the club.

Pride of place again went to Michael O’Sullivan who took gold in the 400m in a time of 50.49, which was quite impressive as Michael has being undergoing very heavy training of late for his new event, the 800m and he took part in this race as a sharpener to build up some speed for the 800.

In the 100m, Joe Barry set a PB of 12.14 in taking bronze to add to the bronze he has already won this year in the Leinster under 23 championships.

The club had two representatives in the 1500m with schools cross country champion, John Coghlan, taking a very creditable 6th in 3:59.03 and slightly further back Niall Sherlock finishing in 14th in 4:08.02.

Not to be outdone, the club’s sole representative in the Masters (O/35), Mel Hilliard just missed out on the podium by a couple of seconds, finishing 4th in the 1500m in 4:26.20
