SUCCESS FOR MSB ATHLETES AT LEINSTER U23 CHAMPIONSHIPS & ON THE ROADS

The brand new Charlestrand stadium in Greystones, opened three weeks ago by Olympic champion Ronnie Delaney, was the venue for the Leinster U23 championships on Sunday. On a blustery but sunny day, MSB were represented by three athletes, each of whom achieved a podium finish.

First up was Michael O’Sullivan competing in his new event the 800m. Running a very good tactical race, Michael made his move with 300 metres to go and coasted to victory from there to the finish.

Although a member of MSB for a couple of years, Ruth Carson was making her championship debut and took gold in the 100m. Not to be outdone, Joe Barry also making his MSB championship debut took bronze, also in the 100m.

Altogether 2 golds and a bronze from three athletes was a good return on the day’s outing. Full results can be found here

MSB had further success in last Saturdays 5 mile BHAA race in INTEL. David Fitzpatrick fresh from his exploits in the Boston marathon finished second to Paul Cowhie in a time of 26 minutes 50 seconds. Paddy Parrott finished 23rd overall in a time of 30 minutes and first in his age category. Full results can be found here. Photos can be found here.

The following Tuesday David and Paddy were again in action in the Na Fianna 5k race held in Enfield. David finished second again, this time to Mullingar's Noel Kelly in a time of 15 minutes 43 seconds. Photos can be found here.
