COGHLAN LEADS CHARGE AS YOUNG ATHLETES SHINE

The past few weeks have been busy ones for the young athletes of MSB. Competing in Cross Country, John Coghlan pulled off a notable double at national level by recently winning both the senior schools in DCU and the All-Ireland junior title in Sligo. His achievements were recognised by being presented with the Evening Herald Sports award.
In the Dublin Indoor championships, medals were won by athletes in ages ranging from under 10 to under 17.

Maintaining a great club relay tradition our under 10 and under 11 girls took bronze medals in the relays, while sprinter Robyn O’Neill took bronze in the 60m.
In the 800m, our boys were very much to the fore. Alan Gray and Andrew Brennan took very good golds in the u/16 and u/17 categories with Philip Hilliard making it an MSB 1, 2 by taking silver behind Andrew in the u/17. Bronze medals were won by Darragh Carroll (u/14) and Peter Gaffney (u/15)

In the 1500m Andrew and Philip repeated their double act by taking gold and silver again.

While congratulating the above athletes, great credit is due to the coaches whose long hours of dedication were duly rewarded by the above results.
